Welcome to TGS Outdoors. We’re a Southampton-based gun shop, specialising in a range of gun and shooting disciplines. We work to provide the UK-wide shooting community with a one-stop shop for quality shooting products and gunsmith services. TGS Outdoors exist to bring the shooting and outdoor pursuits community together, by providing an exceptional product range that engages with a vast range of outdoor pastimes.
We’re here to keep family traditions going and to preserve the countryside for future generations. We’re here for the growing community of gun enthusiasts from the experienced to the newcomers. Whether shooting has been your hobby of choice for years, is a key aspect of your day-to-day job or you’re looking to see what all the fuss is about, TGS Outdoors is here for everyone with an interest and enthusiasm for shooting and outdoor pursuits.
Delivering quality products from some of the UK’s best and most trusted shooting and countrywear brands and suppliers, we take care to select products we just know you’re going to love. But quality means nothing without great customer service, right? That’s why we take the extra bit of care needed to ensure that we deliver our products and services hand in hand with only the best customer service.
Safety always comes first in the shooting world, and that’s a motto we stick by - without fail. We follow the rules to a T and take strict measures to ensure that the safety of our customers, staff and the wider community is never compromised.
TGS Outdoors was founded in April 2014 by Joseph Appleby.
The vision was to create a different kind of gun shop, providing something to the local shooting community that was not already being offered locally. Before TGS Outdoors opened its doors, really, there was no gun shop covering the Southampton region that covered the full range of products quite like we do.
In our new-found approach, we didn’t set out to reinvent the gun shop wheel, rather we did want to break the mould.
Joe and the team set out to create a gun shop that shows off quality products to not only the local shooting community but a wider public reach too. As so, many of our products are common to various outdoor pursuits and pastimes, such as walking, fishing, mountaineering and more.
The shop started out in a small premises at the rear of Botley Mills, stocking a range of shotguns. In the early days, whilst we had a reasonable stocking of air weapons, at the time we were limited to one or two brands.

After two years, the shop had gained an increasing amount of interest. Listening to and understanding our customers’ needs and interests, our product and brand range grew. It was time to expand, and with that came a need to move to a bigger shop.
From the offset, it became clear that Botley Mills was a superb location for TGS Outdoors, so we didn’t want to move too far…
In July 2016, we set up shop in a larger premises on the Botley Mills site, just a few metres from the little shop where it all started. It’s where TGS Outdoors, or The Gun Shop as it’s often known to the locals, has remained ever since.
The new space gave us the opportunity to offer a larger product range to better meet our customer’s needs. Air rifles, quality country clothing, accessories and shooting essentials started making appearances on the shelves and in October 2022, our clothing collection grew as we introduced the TGS Outdoors ladies’ range, featuring ladies’ shooting attire as well as quality coats, trousers, jackets, shirts and Wellington boots.
Over the years, we have built fantastic relationships with some of the UK’s top shooting and country clothing brands and suppliers. From Laksen, Percussion, Beretta and Browning to Hull Cartridges, Alan Paine and Yildiz, we’ve handpicked products from only the best, to ensure that we can offer variety, quality and honest value, right on our customers’ doorstep.
We’re proud to say we’ve become a key part of the local shooting community, as well as the wider outdoor-loving community, and that is thanks to our fantastic team, suppliers and of course, our loyal customers.
In November 2023, we decided to launch TGS Outdoors online. Whilst our local and national reach is growing, our foundational values and ethos have remained the same as they did the day we first opened our doors on the 1st of April 2014.
We’re committed to growing in a way that ensures we still operate on a friendly, local and community-based level.
Whether the shop is just too far away from you and you need the help of a delivery van to enjoy our product range, or, in fact, you’re just a stone's throw from our shop door in Botley Mills and prefer to do a little online browsing before you visit, the TGS Outdoors online shop exists for those near and far.
Looking into the future, we aim to increase awareness of TGS Outdoors as a local brand that not only serves the shooting community but all who enjoy common outdoor pastimes and country pursuits.
Whilst, naturally, we specialise in shooting and hunting products, including shotguns, air rifles and gun accessories and essentials, we don’t just sell guns.
We are here for all kinds of outdoor country pursuits. So, whether you’re a gamekeeper looking for shotgun cartridges, a rifle enthusiast on the search for a new night vision scope or a local dog walker looking for a proper pair of wellies to see you through the wet winter months and more, TGS Outdoors exists for all.
